Hi, I'm Mary! Like many women, my story is one of "pain to purpose." While struggling with severe health issues for most of my 20s, I stumbled onto the path of living more closely aligned to nature. As I started becoming more mindful of the food I consumed, the products in my environment, and my connection to nature, the benefits I experienced physically, emotionally, and spiritually were undeniable. I believe that the key to a vital, fulfilled life is remembering and restoring the ways of our ancestors.
In 2024, I started applying this ancestral lens to the birth world, and I saw so many ways the modern medical system gets it wrong. I became obsessed with how intelligent the female body is and how magical the pregnancy>birth>postpartum experience is when we embrace our physiology instead of constantly turning to interventions. At this point, I became an advocate for informed consent, physiologic birth, and the power of choosing radical self-responsibility over outsourcing our authority.
In 2026, I experienced a pregnancy loss and was humbled by the cascade of hormones and emotions, not to mention the lack of support after loss. I was shocked by how few people even understood that loss triggers a postpartum period, too. As I grieved, healed, and grieved some more, I felt called to explore how I could find purpose in filling the gap in care that I experienced firsthand. I connected with many women who found postpartum support to be lacking; whether they had experienced a loss or welcomed a healthy baby, they all felt starved for "the village" that seems to have disappeared from modern society.
As I contemplated my lonely, confusing postpartum (and my entire life, honestly), a Postpartum Doula training serendipitously fell into my lap... the timing was so perfect, I just knew I had to do it. I completed my Postpartum Doula Certification through Uncovering Birth in Summer of 2026. Through that training I realized that all of the individual parts of my journey fit together so beautifully to serve the larger purpose of restoring health within the modern family unit. It really comes down to remembering we are part of nature, not separate from it. To get well, we have to get back in touch with our wild roots.
And so, Wild Mare Wellness was born. My mission is to bring the foundations of wellness back to individuals and families, and especially to new mamas that will pass these foundations on to the next generation. I can't wait to help you bring more nourishment, nature, and autonomy into your life ♥
